I’m sure you native Northern Californians are braving this wet and windy weather with a smile every bit as big as mine about now! Suuuuureeeeee.  It’s easy to say Spring is going to be lovely, and super that those ski lodges won’t go out of business, and so glad we won’t be undergoing drought-related water rations, but in the meantime I know some of you are wondering if we should invest in lifejackets and kayaks. I’m about ready to pimp my jeep out with floaties.

For all the wonderful things that are a result of rainy weather broken umbrellas certainly aren’t among the happiest. Until now that is.  Starting now I’m hoping some brilliant artist out there takes the numerous parosol casulties and creates a thing of beauty from them.  It is my sincere wish that the piles of metal and nylon carcuses can be reimagined and that those fatal gusts that gutted these umbrellas are not remembered as the victors. That the thwarted tools of shelter at the moment of their last protective stand did not collapse under the forceful strain in vain. And maybe such an art project would convince SOMEONE to design an umbrella that is a bit more durable.
