While sitting in a local after hours lounge a couple weeks ago, I heard Herbie Hankcock’s  ”Watermelon Man” played by a duo and I was reminded of the first time I heard the song and my first real introduction to Jazz.  Sophmore year of College, up in a boys room. Now I know what you are thinking…hot…but it was nothing like that. This was a purely educational visit up to Billy’s.  He was a drummer and well versed in Jazz. I was not. And so, we listened (JUST LISTENED) to Herbie for a bit.  And it stuck more than I thought. So one thing leads to another, hearing Herbie got me to our good friend the internet and I did a search…and I found something totally, random, cool, artistic, and to a certain extent ground breaking. Just like I wasn’t expecting Jazz up in Billy’s, my find today was unexpected….. Art is everywhere, and it’s all connected…enjoy…
