Princess Pick – For Richer, Go Poor House

Comfort. We like it. But, sometimes it’s nice to be out of our element. This month, I’ve tried to do things or commit to do things that are outside my comfort zone. A few weeks ago, I tried spontaneous karaoke.  Okay, not my best experience, but “failure” is relative, yes? Bikram Yoga went only slightly better,  it confirmed I’m not a land mammal amd that I have a strange fondness for warm environs.  Next stop on the something different tour, a spot of culinary and musical adventure at the Poor House Bistro. How about a bowl of crawfish and some blues? A taste of Muffaletta and Reggae? A variety of local talent at the weekly open mic with some chicory coffee and beignets? If it feels just a bit like home, that’s because the Poor House Bistro is a converted house. And if it smells a tiny bit familiar, that’s because the kitchen is cooking up creole soul food. And, if it sounds like home, well then, make yourself at home 6 days a week with dozens of bands providing you the perfect way to shake up your regular schedule. It’s not hopping a plane to New Orleans, but it still may qulaify for some of us as some out-of-the-box fun!
