I always have tried to live an artful life. Even if I don’t possess musical talent or artistic skills I try to surround myself and fill my living space with artistic potential. I collect musical instruments that I can’t play, so that others that visit can. I have crafting and art supplies for others who might be inclined to create in the spur of the moment and although I don’t bake, I certainly believe having basic ingredients on hand makes it easier for delectable treats to appear via someone else’s culinary spontaneity. All this to say I’m all for places that inspire artful creation by ANYONE at ANYTIME, and I embrace playing spectator to a diverse array of art, WHEREVER I can.
There is a corner on South 2nd and San Carlos in Downtown San Jose, where for lack of a better phrase, there is this perfect storm of art going on daily. The Camera 3 Cinema (which specializes in showing independent, foreign and cult classic films) Comedy Sportz (featuring everything from family friendly to Adult Centric Midnight Show competitive improv) and Psycho Donuts (featuring quirky local art hanging on the walls and a unique artistry of the donut kind) live in chaotic, hilarious, and creative harmony on this corner. It is a corner filled with colors. You can see these colors, hear them, smell them and taste them. A feast for the senses and an upbeat little collaborative, this corner serves up a genuine happiness and celebrates the weird, wild, offbeat, and sincerely fun part of life.
