Princess’ Pick – No Ugly Ducklings, Only Swans!

Unless you have been living in a cave (in which case, I’d be über shocked if you were reading this) you’re probably aware of the buzz around a particular naughty Black Swan. Certainly, some of you may have seen the Oscar-nominated film, The Black Swan, but long before Natalie Portman plucked imagined feathers out of her back, the real drama of Swan Lake made it the talk of the town. One of the most beautiful, timeless, romantic, tragic and passionate of the classical ballets, Swan Lake has MADE the careers of dancers and made audiences rise to their feet in awe and appreciation. One such dancer to repeatedly have this effect on people is famed cuban dancer Carlos Acosta. An award-winning and much sought after guest artist, he will be dancing a role he is known for (Prince Sigfried) in the February 25th and 26th performances of Ballet San Jose’s Swan Lake. This is not only an opportunity to see one of the best dance a wonderful ballet, but a chance to hear the Symphony Silicon Valley play Tchaikovsky’s brilliant music on new state of the art mics, tuned specifically to each of the instruments. This riveting story of love, loss, deceit, and well…swans is only here for 3 short days. Ballet buffs and those new to the art form will experience and enjoy a top-notch presentation of this undisputed crown jewel of classical ballet. Go see what all that buzz is about!

One Response to “Princess’ Pick – No Ugly Ducklings, Only Swans!”

  1. This is so great of you to Blog this, Princess. I’ve been watching Carlos in rehearsals all week and he is amazing. The entire company is just so excited to have him here in San Jose. And as soon as the word got out that he was going to be dancing on Friday and Saturday nights (Feb 25 and 26) the phones have been ringing off the hook. This could be the first sold out houses we have had (other than Nutcracker) since 2007. I guess the economy really is coming back, because people are buying the most expensive seats first, and that’s something we have not seen in a few years. I know you have your tix, Princess; and I’ve got mine. If any of the rest of you want to come…call or go online NOW. (408) 288-2800 or http://www.balletsj.org.
You really should not miss this opportunity.
