The Art of the drink is sometimes overlooked by the ethusiasm of the drinker. Down the hatches and chug, chug, chug may be all too often heard and thus the beauty of the way a drink is presented (not to mention the delicate, creative, and/or artistic nature housed in it’s taste) is missed.

Mixology (didn’t know there was even a work for it did you) isn’t as practiced as home brewing probably, not is it as popular a tourist attraction or have the clout that winemaking/tasting has, but the mixed drink can be a thing of beauty.
Many a time I’ve seen a drink that not only looks and tastes like art, but has a clever name to market it as well. From title to glassware to the complex blend of flavors the art of the drink is certainly an appealing and refreshing one.
Among my favorite drink names: a concoction made with yuzu, a Japanese citrus fruit, and huckleberry called the Huck Yu, a thin mint martini called the Girl Scout Cookie, and my own creation organic apple juice and lychee infused Soho vodka…a Slippery Princess. So the next time you are out, take time to take in the art of your drink before it passes past your palatte. Cheers!
