Comission THIS! – Lost Soles
February 2, 2009 by artsopolis
Few things are as sad as shoes on the side of the freeway. The image of a single, solitary, mangled sneaker innocently stranded on trecherous asphalt is a lonely image representative of our throw away society. Or maybe that’s justme? As I was on the road this weekend I saw numerous of these “Lost Soles” and got to thinking what a great project that would be if only had talent.
Photography, art, film, just about any medium would work to highlight the footware that got booted, bumped, or left behind. It would give these shoes another life, another home, some exposure, maybe even reunite them with their other shoe or owner. I don’t know how they get on the vehicular arteries, but I think they deserve their own commission. And that’s why I’ve decided to call this post COMISSION THIS. (It could very well be a reoccuring segment you realize.)

If you have artistic talent and you feel these discarded items would make good subjects , I urge you to become champion to the wayward freeway flip-flop and patron saint of sneakers by dedicating art in their name.
